C'est tout

My last night in Paris. I can't believe that I've actually spent 3 months here and that my stay in this fascinating city has come to an end.......no, wait a minute. Who am I kidding? That was the line I had envisioned writing for my final post from Paris but in reality, I am more than ready to head home. When even the majestic Eiffel Tower, with its blinking lights and fabulous light shows seem a tad boring and fail to liven up the evening, you know it's time for home sweet home.

So, without much sentimentalism or melancholy, albeit uncharacteristic of me, I thought that my final post from  la ville lumiére should be about my favorite places to take a nap rest in this beautiful city. Don't ask me why; there's no rhyme or reason to this. Here goes:

Magnificent lobbies or hallways of grand 5-star hotels

....or their equally grand restrooms
Along the Seine - more options during warm weather months, of course. A dear friend was fortunate enough to snap a chaise lounger  during Paris Plage  and actually enjoyed almost an hour's nap during their busiest time of the day.

The Metro, whether you're in the train or just hanging around at the station
This next category has to be my favorite - at one of those posh salon de thé (tea house), especially after a  heavy dose of sweets and pastries
The main character in Amelie came here for outdoorsy activities (skipping stones qualify, I assume) but I found it to be quite a tranquil spot for napping resting.
Alright, this one's a bit eerie but it's really quite comfy and made totally conducive by the low lighting
The Crypt, Panthéon
I don't have a photo of this, for obvious reason, but the long concrete benches on the upper floors of Musée d'Orsay make excellent loungers to sleep rest your tired feet.

And my ultimate favorite spot to rest, soak in all the wonderful sights of the city and most importantly, take a nap - on the apartment balcony
I'll definitely miss waking up to this
and moved for an even better close-up for the final night......

There's still a lot more that I'd like to share about Paris, but first things first. There'll be loads of interesting activities awaiting when I arrive home: the unpacking, the laundry, the cleaning, the settling-in-to-life back home but the one thing I can't wait is to be baking from home again.
A memorable summer but it's time. Au revoir Paris! I'll be back.
